FIELD: paper production; cellulose production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing paper or paperboard. Method comprises providing a raw material comprising cellulosic fibers. Mixture containing microfibrillated cellulose and an additive to improve strength is then added to the raw material. Microparticles are added to the raw material after the addition of said mixture. Next, the raw material is dewatered on a mesh to form a sheet, and the sheet is dried. Microparticles include inorganic colloidal microparticles.

EFFECT: improvement of dewatering capacity of raw materials containing microfibrillated cellulose is provided.
