FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engines, in particular for detecting and suppressing misfiring. System and method for improving detection and suppression of misfiring in the engine are proposed. Misfire in the engine is determined by sampling the exhaust gas pressure readings of the cylinder for the time when the exhaust valve of the cylinder is in the open state. If misfiring is indicated, the actuator is adjusted to reduce the probability of misfiring during the subsequent cylinder cycle.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improving the detection of misfiring in the engine at higher engine speeds, including for individual cylinders.
