FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in transport internal combustion engines equipped with exhaust gas recirculation system. Method of operating engine (10) is to reduce exhaust gas flow of one or more special cylinders (4) of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), providing external recirculation of exhaust gases to cylinders (1), (2) and (3) of engine, in response to higher torque required by driver. Exhaust gas flow of one or more EGR special cylinders (4) is increased to allow external recirculation of exhaust gases to engine cylinders (1), (2) and (3) in response to supercharging pressure of threshold pressure. Versions of engine operation method and vehicle system are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing exhaust flow of one or more cylinders, providing external recirculation of exhaust gases to engine cylinders.
