SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and is an antitussive or expectorant composition comprising a dry aqueous extract of Coptis rhizome and a cation-exchange resin having a sulphonic acid group, where the bitter taste of the dry aqueous extract of Coptis rhizome is masked by a cation-exchange resin having a sulphonic acid group; and the ratio of the content of the dry aqueous extract of Coptis rhizome to the content of the cation-exchange resin having a sulphonic acid group in the composition ranges from 1:1 to 1:10 (w/w).
EFFECT: invention enables to mask the bitter taste of the dry aqueous extract of Coptis rhizome using a cation-exchange resin having a sulphonic acid group.
