FIELD: gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technique of analysis of composition of gas mixtures, including those containing odor components, and can be used in gas industry and other sectors using gas odorized with a mixture of natural mercaptans to determine degree of natural gas odorization. Object of present invention is to determine degree of odorization and intensity of gas odor, odorized with a mixture of natural mercaptans by measuring concentrations of individual components of odorant. Method of determining degree of gas odorization, odorized with a mixture of natural mercaptans, is that the analysis of individual components of the odorant is carried out chromatographically with a detector sensitive to sulfur-containing compounds. According to the invention, announced method is characterized in that the concentration of individual components of a mixture of natural mercaptans in a gas is determined and the sum of their concentrations is compared with a numerical criterion for the degree of gas odorization, at which odor intensity is considered sufficient to transfer gas to a consumer.

EFFECT: claimed method allows to solve the problem of determining degree of odorization of a gas, odorized with a mixture of natural mercaptans, on the basis of gas chromatographic analysis method, which is independent of subjective indicators of known organoleptic method for determining intensity of smell of gas, when it reaches a minimum sufficient concentration of a mixture of natural mercaptans.
