FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to global impact on natural processes, namely to impact on hydrogeological processes, and more namely to method of accumulating water on the slopes of the hills throughout the watersheds. Method provides for execution of water-retaining ditches along the circumference of the hills. Ditches are located on the same horizon in separate sections of 50–100 m with gaps between them of 40–90 m. To cover the breaks down the slope in the interval of 10–20 m, the following chain of sections is also 50–100 m long with the possibility of forming a single tier of two chains. Such layers are located on the interval along the slope from each other, depending on the steepness of the slope and the characteristics of the ground. Ditches can be made both by specially provided mechanisms, and by usual agricultural machinery, for example, trailed tractor plows.

EFFECT: method provides water retention and snow retention on the slopes, providing for feeding rivers, contributing to their high water levels and eliminating their drying, as well as reducing the harmful effects of floods and floods, and preventing the washing away of humus.
