SUBSTANCE: when value documents are placed into containers that are used to supply said value documents to a value document handling apparatus, a beginning position and possibly also an end position for the respective deposit is ascertained for each deposit and transmitted to the value document handling apparatus. Invention allows error-free association of the checked value documents with the various deposits even when there are different deposits in the same container. If a deposit comprises two separate stack elements that have been placed into the same or different containers, said stack elements of the deposit under consideration can be balanced jointly and it is possible to perform joint reject handling for the stack elements of the same deposit.
EFFECT: invention relates to the processing of value documents of various deposits by means of a value document handling apparatus.
