FIELD: separation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an oxygen concentrator for producing oxygen-rich gas comprising a sensor system for quantitative detection of nitrogen in an oxygen-containing gas containing nitrogen. Oxygen concentrator comprises sensor system (100) comprising a zeolite capable of sorbing nitrogen, the zeolite being susceptible to temperature change upon sorption of nitrogen; at least first temperature sensor (104) for measuring the temperature of the zeolite; and control unit (110) configured to quantitatively detect nitrogen based on a temperature change of the zeolite and dynamic control of oxygen separation device (12) depending on the results of the quantitative detection of nitrogen. In addition, there is provided a method for controlling an oxygen separation device by quantitative detection of nitrogen in an oxygen-containing gas.

EFFECT: technical result is higher sensitivity of the method.
