SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for recognizing the softness of a banknote. In the method: collecting the color data of identifiable banknotes by using a color picker; extracting the corresponding characteristics from the pre-processed color data; compare the extracted characteristics with a set of performance standards corresponding to each type of currency, to obtain corresponding quantitative indicators of compliance and use of the standard of characteristics having the highest quantitative index, as an appropriate selected color data standard; determining types of currency in accordance with the results of the comparison. In the method, money bills are recognized when using changes in the trend of a set of average values of stable sub-segments corresponding to the color data, so that the problem of color shift of color data can be excluded, and banknotes are accurately recognized.
EFFECT: technical result is improved accuracy of recognition.
