FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle restraint means during transportation. Vehicle restraint apparatus for auto-rack railroad car (10) includes an active wheel chock to which is attached a rail engager, a wheel harness connected to a tensioning mechanism, and an anchor wheel chock with a rail engager. In various embodiments, each chock includes a chock body including a substantially diamond shaped elongated tube which includes four integrally connected elongated walls. For each chock, various chock members extend substantially along a longitudinal axis that lies in the same or substantially the same vertical plane as the uppermost part and the lowest part of the said substantially diamond shaped elongated tube of the chock body.
EFFECT: invention improves the reliability of vehicle restraint apparatus and reduces their damage.
