FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: heating element for heating gases to high temperatures comprises at least one tube (1) arranged for the flow therethrough of a gas to be heated and an electrical heating wire in the tube for the transfer of heat to the gas flowing along the heating wire. According to the invention, it is proposed that the heating wire is heating rod (2) extending along an axis of the tube, and having a maximum internal spacing relative to an inside wall of the tube that does not exceed a value of 10 mm over at least 80 % of a periphery and/or at least 80 % of an overlap length of the tube and the heating rod.

EFFECT: invention provides high-temperature heating of a gas up to 1,000 °C or higher with a long service life.
