FIELD: communication equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a communication technique and can be used to determine the exact location of a transmission signal source. Methods comprise: demodulating, using a communication device receiver, a detected carrier signal modulated with a pseudo noise (PN) code sequence, to obtain the original information carrier from it; calculating, using the receiver, time delay offsets using window correlations of the pseudo noise code for each symbol of the original information carrying signal; determining, using the receiver, the high-precision time of arrival (TOA) of the detected carrier signal using time-delay offsets; and using, by means of the receiver, a high-precision arrival time to determine the exact location of the source of the original information-carrying transmission signal.
EFFECT: technical result is improved accuracy of the location of the transmission media.
