SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hybrid power supply. Apparatus comprises: process sensor for monitoring the process parameter and generating a sensor signal; body enclosing the internal volume of the wireless process device; transmitter placed inside the internal volume for processing the sensor signal; and a power supply unit for housing in an internal volume, comprising an energy storage device; connection to local power supply; first and second voltage sensors for measuring the first and second output voltages of the energy storage device and the local power source, respectively; and a processor for providing a diagnostic report to the transmitter regarding an energy storage device and a local power source, the diagnostic report comprising identification information of the energy storage device and/or the local power supply based on the first and second output voltages.
EFFECT: providing an estimate of the battery charge level.
