FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metrology, in particular to devices for determining the amount of drilling fluid in a vessel. Device comprises a source of electromagnetic oscillations, a detector, an amplifier, transmitting and receiving sections of a rectangular waveguide, a dielectric waveguide fixed vertically on the side wall of the tank, and a calculator of the height of the mud layer. Output of the electromagnetic oscillation source is connected to the input of the transmitting section of the rectangular waveguide, whose output through the dielectric waveguide is connected to the input of the receiving segment of the rectangular waveguide, the output of the receiving section of the rectangular waveguide through the detector is connected to the input of the amplifier, the output of the amplifier is connected to the input of the calculator of the height of the mud layer.

EFFECT: simplification of the process of determining the amount of drilling fluid in the tank.
