SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of 1,2-disubstituted alkenyl cyanoethyl succinimides by reacting maleic anhydride with olefins at an elevated temperature, followed by reacting alkenylsuccinanhydride with amines in the presence of a solvent, characterized in that a polyalphaolefin having a molecular weight of 1,000–1,200 or polyisobutylene with a molecular weight of 950–1,150 is used as the olefin, the process is carried out in the presence of an initiator first at a temperature of 85–90 °C for 1.5–1.8 hours, then at 180–185 °C for 4–4.5 hours at the molar ratio of PAO(PIB):MA=1:1–1.05 followed by condensation of the resulting alkenylsuccinic anhydride in oil with 1,2-disubstituted imidazolines of formula

where R=C7H13, C7H15, C17H33, C17H35, n=2-3 at a molar ratio of alkenylsuccinic anhydride : 1,2-disubstituted imidazoline, equal to 1:1–1.05, first with 80–85 °C for 1 hour, then 155–160 °C for 5–5.5 h followed by reaction of the resulting alkenylsuccinimide of 1,2-disubstituted imidazoline with acrylonitrile at 80–90 °C in a molar ratio of 1:1–2, for 2–3 hours.
EFFECT: method has been developed for the preparation of new alkenyl cyanoethyl succinimides of 1,2-disubstituted imidazoline, which can be used as anti-corrosion, detergent and dispersant additives in the composition of lubricating oils to reduce the formation of carbon deposits on the parts of internal combustion engines.
