FIELD: shipbuilding; measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of navigation, namely to methods and devices for measuring the absolute speed of a ship using a Doppler log. Instruction in the frequency domain, reflected from the bottom echo signal is detected and its frequency is measured to within the width of the spectral window Δƒ, determined by the duration of the probe signal, and in the time domain a more accurate measurement of the frequency of the echo in a frequency band of width Δƒ, in which an echo is detected.
EFFECT: increase noise immunity of the Doppler log and increase the accuracy of measuring the speed of the ship at shallow depths under the keel.
