FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of navigation, namely to the ship absolute speed measurement methods and devices. Signal from output of formed directional characteristic of receiving hydroacoustic antenna, along with splitting into overlapping time intervals with duration TTS, equal to duration of tonal probing signal, it is also divided into overlapping time intervals of shorter duration TKC, calculated on the basis of a given depth measurement accuracy. Detection of echo-signal (ES) is carried out simultaneously both on each interval of duration TTS, and on each interval of duration TKC. If ES is detected on TTS time interval, its frequency is determined, using which the ship speed is calculated, and at the first detection of echo-signal on TKC interval, time interval ΔT between time of this detection and time of the beginning of radiation of tonal probing signal is determined. Using time interval ΔT, the depth under keel is calculated.
EFFECT: constant control of absolute (relative to bottom) speed of vessel and distance to the bottom, which ensures safe navigation.
