FIELD: shipbuilding; measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of navigation, namely to the ship absolute speed measurement methods and devices. One of the conditions for safe navigation is the constant monitoring of the vessel's absolute (relative to the bottom) speed and the distance to the bottom. Following the emission of the Doppler lag of the tone sounding signal with a long duration, a broadband probing signal with a short duration is emitted. As a result, the frequency of the echo signal is determined with a high accuracy from the bottom of the tonal signal and, as a consequence, the speed of the vessel, and on the broadband signal reflected from the bottom, the propagation time of the signal to the bottom and back is determined with high accuracy and, as a consequence, the distance to the bottom.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of the Doppler distance measurement to the bottom.
