SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a polyester polymer composition comprising a polyester polymer containing furanic units, characterized in that said method comprises a step of reacting a cyclic polyester oligomer in the presence of a catalyst, in a ring-opening polymerization step under reaction temperature conditions and reaction times sufficient to produce a polyester polymer containing furanic units, wherein either: (I) the cyclic polyester oligomer includes the structure , wherein each of the A groups is an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl group and m is an integer from 1 to 20, preferably from 2 to 15, and most preferably from 3 to 10, and the polyester polymer containing furan units includes a structure of , where A is defined earlier and n is an integer from 10 to 1,000,000; or (II) the cyclic polyester oligomer includes a structure of , wherein each of the B groups is an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl group and n' is an integer from 1 to 20, preferably from 2 to 10, and m is previously defined, and a polyester polymer containing furan units includes a structure of . Also described is a polyester polymer composition for use in extrusion, injection molding or blow molding processes produced by said process, wherein said polyester polymer composition comprises a polyester polymer containing furanic units and comprising either Z1, or Z2, and a cyclic polyester oligomer comprising a Y1 or Y2, preferably at a concentration of less than 5, more preferably less than 1, and even more preferably less than 0.5 % by weight in the composition.

EFFECT: simplifying the process for producing a polyester polymer composition having no long polymerization time and a tendency to form large amounts of volatile by-products.
