FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: drive unit for electric vehicles is proposed. In a drive unit containing an electric motor, an inverter, a first electric power storage device, a DC to DC converter, a first capacitor and a second capacitor, a DC converter and a relay, wherein the DC to DC converter is driven, when the target duty cycle of the boost/drop converter is assigned in such a way that the total losses of the voltage boost/drop converter and the DC/DC converter become greater than the maximum value of the voltage boost/drop converter losses, and the boost-down converter is controlled when the relay is turned off to discharge the first capacitor and the second capacitor. A method for controlling the drive unit and a car are also proposed.
EFFECT: reduction in the charge discharge time of the first capacitor and the second capacitor is achieved.
