FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for distilling ethylbenzene from a mixture that contains ethylbenzene and at least one other C8 aromatic compound, which comprises distilling said mixture in a distillation column in the presence of an extraction solvent. Wherein the mass ratio of the extraction solvent to the mixture containing ethylbenzene is in the range from 1:1 to 10:1. Said process is characterized in that the distillation column operates at a pressure below atmospheric in the range of 50 to 500 mbar and at a temperature in the range of from 70 to 180 °C. Also, the invention relates to the use of a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure in a distillation column in a distillation separation process of ethylbenzene.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to separate ethylbenzene more efficiently.
