FIELD: lighting equipment.
SUBSTANCE: light-emitting diode electric lamp has light emitting portion 22 of the lamp which comprises a central core extending from the top to the bottom and which provides an open passageway, at least at the top. LEDs are installed in thermal contact around the central core.
EFFECT: design provides an airflow to facilitate the cooling of the LEDs, thereby reducing the size and cost of the heat sink or completely avoiding the need for a heat sink.
