FIELD: navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for navigation of underwater vehicles (hereinafter – UV), specifically to hydroacoustic methods for determination of UV position, when floating on permanent routes under water. Instead of a water-filled spherical shell with microspheres filled with air, as a reflecting body included in UDVM, a corner reflector is used, made of a light metal alloy, having smaller cost, and providing a greater distance of UDVM detection with UV sonar. In the absence of ice cover, UDVM is installed at a calculated point from a side of a vessel by throwing UDVM overboard. In the presence of ice cover, UDVM is installed at a calculated point from a side of an icebreaker or from ice. In the latter case, UDVM is submersed into a well made in ice by one of known methods. UDVM is installed along the permanent route of UV at an interval determined by a condition, according to which UV moving on a permanent course from one UDVM to another should get to a circle with the center at a point of location of this UDVM and a radius not exceeding a distance of detection of UDVM by UV sonar.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of positioning of UV, when floating on a constant route.
