HYDROGEL LENS INCLUDING A REMOVABLE MEDIA INSERT Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2672693 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Ophthalmic device comprises: hydrogel lens comprising an optic zone and a peripheral zone that is outside of the optic zone, two or more raised portions included in the peripheral zone of the hydrogel lens; and a media insert removably attached within the optic zone of the hydrogel lens. Media insert is removably attached to the hydrogel lens through an interference fit. Another option of the ophthalmic device comprises: hydrogel lens including a relatively flat portion overlapping a center axis of the hydrogel lens, and a media insert removably attached within the hydrogel lens. Third option of the ophthalmic device comprises: hydrogel lens with an annular opening configured to receive the media insert; and a media insert removably attached within the annular opening of the hydrogel lens.

EFFECT: use of this group of inventions will allow for improved oxygen transmission and tear flow.
