FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to surfactants useful in liquid or supercritical CO2 application. Said surfactant comprises a group of aliphatic polycarbonate and hydrocarbon, linked through an oxygen atom, wherein the surfactant comprises a compound of formula:

where R1, R2, R3 and R4 at each occurrence in the polymer chain are independently selected from the group consisting of -H, fluorine, optionally substituted C1-40 aliphatic group, optionally substituted C1-20 heteroaliphatic group and optionally substituted aryl group, where any two or more R1, R2, R3 and R4 may optionally be taken together with intervening atoms to form one or more optionally substituted rings optionally containing one or more heteroatoms; group contains a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon; Y is selected from the group consisting of -H, optionally substituted C1-12 aliphatic group, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted C1-12 acyl, -SO2R, -SiR3 and a polyether chain, wherein R is, independently at each occurrence, optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted C1-12 aliphatic group; and n is an integer greater than 1 to 50.

EFFECT: technical result is the preparation of a surfactant soluble in CO2, which has improved physical and interfacial tension properties.
