SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire fighting equipment, in particular to technologies and devices for fire and explosion prevention and fire fighting in the form of a fast-hardening inorganic foam based on a foamed silica gel SiO2, and can be used for fire and explosion prevention in the initial stage of emergency situations in enclosed spaces and in open areas and in extinguishing fires of combustible materials. Method of fire and fire prevention and solid-state quenching involves the preparation of a foamed silica gel in the form of a rapidly hardening foam by mixing component A in the form of an aqueous solution of a mixture of alkali metal silicate and a foaming surfactant, a predominantly synthetic hydrocarbon foaming agent, at a ratio of mass. %: 10–70, mainly 20–50 sodium silicate, 1–15, mainly 3–6 foaming surfactants, the rest is water, with component B constituting 20–60 %, mainly from 30–50 % aqueous solution of acetic acid. Device for fire and explosion prevention and solid extinguishing contains containers with components of the extinguishing agent placed in them, pipelines of the components of the extinguishing agent, a means of mixing the components of the extinguishing agent; and a means of foaming the mixture of components of the extinguishing agent. Device is made with the possibility of obtaining as a fire extinguishing agent a foamed silica gel in the form of a fast-hardening foam obtained by mixing and foaming a mixture of components A and B, with a volume ratio of components A and B from 15:1 to 6:1, mostly 10:1.

EFFECT: as a result, the reliability of fire extinguishing equipment and fire and explosion prevention and the effectiveness of fire extinguishing and fire and fire prevention processes is improved.
