FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, namely to systems and methods for deactivating cylinders of an internal combustion engine. Poppet valve operator comprises rocker arm 360 comprising poppet valve engaging end 321 and camshaft engaging end 352. Rocker arm 360 includes pivot pocket 373 disposed between camshaft engaging end 352 and poppet valve engaging end 321. Hydraulically actuated pivot ball is connected to piston 371 disposed in piston housing 375 and selectively cooperates with pivot pocket 373 on the base of solenoid valve 365. High pressure chamber 368 is in fluid communication with outlet of piston housing 375. High pressure chamber 368 is further in fluid communication with the oil gallery of the engine oil pump through first hydraulic passage 340. Medium pressure chamber 344 communicates fluidly with the oil gallery through second hydraulic passage 346. High pressure chamber 368 and medium pressure chamber 344 are in fluid communication when solenoid valve 365 is in the open position, creating a single continuous pressure chamber. High pressure chamber 368 and medium pressure chamber 344 are fluidly disengaged when solenoid valve 365 is in the closed position.
EFFECT: increasing the response time of the adjustable valve lift method to restart the engine by reducing the amount of leaked oil from the valve control system.
