SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a beverage machine comprising: brewing unit (10) with (I) main part (12) defining hollow (14) for receiving different types of portable pad and/or capsule holders (16, 18, 18'), and (II) lid (20) connected to main part (12) for opening and closing hollow (14), first holder (16) for receiving a first type of pad or capsule which encapsulates an extractable food product, and second holder (18, 18') for receiving a second type of pad or capsule which encapsulates an extractable food product. Shape of hollow (14) is configured in such way that it may either receive first or second holder (16, 18, 18'). Lid (20) comprises (I) first sealing member (28) which is configured to seal first brewing chamber (42) between lid (20) and first holder (16), when first holder (16) is inserted into hollow (14), and (II) second sealing member (30) which is different from first sealing member (28) and configured to seal second brewing chamber (46) between lid (20) and second holder (18, 18'), when second holder (18, 18') is inserted into hollow (14).
