FIELD: space equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the operation and design of the working system reservoirs (WSR) for storing a gaseous working fluid (WF) on board a spacecraft (SC), and also to the use of the data obtained in this case to estimate the residual characteristic velocity of the spacecraft in the case of reactive generation of SC from the WSR. Method is based on the laws of physics of actual gases of varying degrees of criticality. According to the method, the residual mass of the WF gas in the WSR is determined from the initial and final stages of the functioning of the working system on the equations of state of the associated and nonassociated gas.
EFFECT: technical result is the exclusion of the accumulation of the error in determining the residuals of WF onboard the spacecraft.
