FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a field of scalable video coding and decoding. Image encoding method is performed in accordance with a scalable encoding format comprising at least a reference level and level improving, and comprises, for the region of the enhancement layer image, the steps of: determining a set of predictor-candidates of the motion information including the candidate predictor of the motion information, based on motion information associated with a portion of the image belonging to the reference layer; the combined position in the reference layer of the image area for encoding in an enhancement layer is determined; correcting at least one co-ordinate position coordinate by a new value; and selecting, if available, movement information associated with the corrected position in a supporting level, as the predictor of the candidate of movement information, that should be included in the mentioned set of predictors of the information of the motion.

EFFECT: increase the efficiency of image encoding / decoding by selecting the corrected motion information.
