SUBSTANCE: image encoding method according to the scalable encoding format comprises, at least, for the region of the enhancement layer image, the steps of: determining a set of predictors of the motion information based on the motion information of the other part of the images belonging to the reference layer; determining the combined position in the reference level of the image area for encoding in the enhancement layer to select the motion information associated with the said position as a part of the said set of the motion information predictors; correcting, at least, one coordinate of the said combined position; and encoding an image in accordance with a scalable encoding format.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of image encoding and decoding by improving the selection of motion information.
