SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to embodiments of a vehicle hood latch mechanism. Mechanism comprises a latch assembly including a primary latch and a secondary latch. Secondary latch restrains the hood in a released position after the movement of the primary latch to an unlocked position. Secondary latch secures a striker to restrain the hood in a released position and allows the hood to move to an open position upon manipulation. Secondary latch release handle comprises an arm having a retracted position and a deployed position in which it extends in the longitudinal direction relative to the vehicle, wherein when the primary latch moves to the unlocked position, said arm extends forwardly to the deployed position.
