SYNTACTIC POLYURETHANE ELASTOMERS FOR USE IN SUBSEA PIPELINE INSULATION Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C08G18/48 C08G18/10 C08G18/12 C08G18/16 C08G18/66 C08G18/76 C08K7/28 C08J9/32 C09D175/08

Abstract RU 2673340 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing syntactic polyurethane elastomers, as well as to a method for producing a substrate with an applied syntactic polyurethane elastomer. Elastomer is made from a reaction mixture comprising a polymer polyol, microspheres, a chain extender, a beta-diketone compound, an aromatic polyisocyanate, and a catalyst. Polymer polyol has a continuous phase containing one or more polyether polyols, including liquid polyether polyol, and dispersed particles of a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer. Catalyst is a mixture of zinc and zirconium carboxylates, in which the weight ratio of zinc and zirconium is 99–99.5:0.5–1. Isocyanate index is 80–130.

EFFECT: resulting elastomer is resistant to cracking even when cast in closed moulds with an irregular shape, it is also characterised by good self-bonding, which makes it useful as heat insulation for pipelines running along the seabed, and other structural elements.
