SYNTACTIC POLYURETHANE ELASTOMER BASED ON PREPOLYMER WITH SOFT SEGMENTS AND CATALYST NOT CONTAINING MERCURY FOR USING IN INSULATION OF UNDERWATER PIPELINES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C08G18/48 C08G18/10 C08G18/12 C08G18/26 C08G18/66 C08G18/76 C08K7/28 C08J9/32 C09D175/08

Abstract RU 2673660 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a syntactic polyurethane elastomer used as insulation for underwater pipes and structures. This method comprises (a) forming a reaction mixture comprising an alkylene glycol chain extension chain, 5 to 50 % by weight of microspheres, an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer having an isocyanate content of 3 to 12 % by weight, and a mercury-free catalyst, and (b) solidifying the reaction mixture. Prepolymer is the reaction product of at least one polyether polyol with an excess of an aromatic polyisocyanate. Mercury-free catalyst is a mixture of 98 to 99.99 % by weight of one or more zinc carboxylates and 0.01 to 2 % by weight of one or more zirconium carboxylates.

EFFECT: resulting elastomer is well bonded to itself, which makes it very useful as a thermal insulation for pipelines and other structures that have complex geometry, and also has physical properties similar to the properties of elastomers obtained using organomercury catalysts.
