SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing syntactic polyurethane elastomers, as well as to a method for producing a substrate comprising a syntactic polyurethane elastomer. Method of producing an elastomer includes (a) preparing a reaction mixture containing at least one polyether polyol, microspheres, a chain extender, aromatic polyisocyanate, a catalyst and a β-diketone compound, and (b) curing the reaction mixture. One or more polyether polyols contain not more than 60 mceq/g of unsaturated terminal groups. Catalyst is a mixture of zinc and zirconium carboxylates, in which the weight ratio of zinc to zirconium is 99–99.5:0.5–1. Isocyanate index ranges from 80 to 130.
EFFECT: resulting polyurethane elastomer is resistant to cracking and has good self-bonding properties, which makes it suitable for use as thermal insulation of underwater pipelines and other structures.
