FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to radiation curable, water-dispersible urethane(meth)acrylates, to aqueous coating compositions containing them, to their use and to a process for their preparation. Said urethane(meth)acrylate is formed from (a) at least one (cyclic)aliphatic di- and/or polyisocyanate, (b1) of at least one aliphatic diol with a molar mass of less than 700 g/mol, (b2) of at least one polyester diol with a weight average molar mass of 700 to 2,000 and an acid number of not more than 20 mg KOH/g, (c) at least one compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one free-radical polymerizable unsaturated group, (d) at least one compound having at least one isocyanate-reactive group and at least one acid group, (e) at least one alkali metal base, (f) optionally at least one mono- and di-C1-C4-alkylamine and (g) at least one monofunctional polyalkylene oxide polyether alcohol.
EFFECT: resulting urethane(meth)acrylates exhibit good stability and good pigmentation properties in dispersion and can be used as coatings for wood, paper, leather, plastic and other surfaces, including as an ink.
