FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the diagnosis of a vehicle radar system. Disclosed is a controller which monitors a radar system, which can detect the blocking of the radar device when the echo amplitude is less than the threshold value. In response, blocking diagnosis of the radar device can be performed. Controller may prohibit the issuance of diagnostic results for the presence of a blocking radar device when other data indicates that the radar sensor is not blocked. Such data include the location of the vehicle, information about the intensity of movement, images from the camera, the previous set of characteristics of the echo signals of the radar device. Controller can confirm the results of the diagnosis of the presence of a blocking radar device when other data (temperature, vehicle location, road surface roughness, etc.) indicate that the radar sensor may be blocked. Functions that use echo data can operate based on the diagnostic results of the blocking of the radar device.

EFFECT: technical result consists in detecting the failure state of the radar device and disabling the corresponding functions associated with its operation.
