EFFECT: compound of the invention prevents hyperproduction of GABA in reactive astrocytes of the hypothalamus by inhibiting monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) and is intended for the treatment or prevention of a neurodegenerative disease, as well as for the treatment or prevention of obesity.
