SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy and can be used in the production of iron in blast furnaces. Method of washing the blast furnace includes loading the feed of the charge, consisting of coke and iron ore parts, periodic loading of wash feeds and the release of smelting products. Iron ore materials with a basicity of 0.25–0.5 are used as flushing feeds, the flow rate of which is determined based on the production of primary slag melt with an FeO content in the range of 35–55 %, calculated according to the dependence proposed in the invention.

EFFECT: ensuring the dissolution of highly basic, high magnesian melts melting the coke nozzle, and the oxidation of small fractions of coke with a low-base, highly acid melt, formed from a mixture of traditional blast materials of blast-furnace production.
