FIELD: woodworking industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means and methods for improving the fire resistance of wood and can be used for fire-retardant treatment of building materials from wood, wooden structures and other wood products. Fire retardant is described, which is an aqueous composition containing a mixture of products of liquid-phase oxidation of a substrate of plant origin by air in an aqueous medium in the presence of alkali and a salt of a divalent metal, characterized in that said substrate is a mixture of wood flour of coniferous species and crushed rice grains, taken in quantitative ratios, % by weight: wood flour of coniferous species – 60–40, crushed rice grain – 40–60, and their joint oxidation is carried out under a pressure of 3–5 atm. Method for producing a flame retardant and a method for flame retardant treatment of wood are described.

EFFECT: proposed product with good flame retardant properties.
