FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for processing a cylinder bore of an internal combustion engine, made of aluminium or its alloy including honing the cylinder bore to produce a honed cylinder bore, having, in unloaded state, a non-cylindrical initial shape that can deform under load to a cylindrical shape, and coating the honed cylinder bore by electrolysis to form a coated cylinder bore, wherein part of the coating grows into the base material, and the other part is created outside on the surface of the base material, wherein part of the coating that is created from the outside is thicker than the part of the coating that has grown into the base material.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at extending the service life of the engine by eliminating deviation during operation and obtaining high-quality coating.
