FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of welded structures by mechanized arc welding. Flux cored wire contains a metallic sheath and a powder core in the form of layers of different chemical composition alternating along the length. In one of the adjacent layers, the percentage of metal powder is from 70 to 100 % by weight, and in the other – up to 20 % by weight. Rest is slag-forming powder components. Length of periodically repeating layers is chosen from the condition of obtaining controlled transfer of molten metal droplets of cored wire during arc welding.
EFFECT: invention provides a stable transfer of droplets of molten flux-cored wire, obtaining a smooth weld of stable geometry with reduced spattering and a reduced likelihood of arc breakage.
