METHOD FOR STIMULATING NEUROGENESIS IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61K35/28 A61K31/522 A61P25/00

Abstract RU 2675111 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neuropathology and psychiatry, and can be used to stimulate hippocampal neurogenesis in depression-like conditions in mammals. Method includes sampling of mature peripheral immune cells in a mammal in a depressive state, cells undergo in vitro exposures with caffeine or pharmacologically active caffeine salts at active concentrations of 100–500 mcg per 15 × 106 cells for 10–25 minutes. Then, the cells are washed from caffeine preparation and injected into the bloodstream of the mammal in a depressive state.

EFFECT: use of invention allows to stimulate neurogenesis in the hippocampus without directly introducing caffeine into the body.
