FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry and can be used in laboratories that carry out analytical control of technological production associated with the production of polystyrene. Described is a method for preparing polystyrene samples for the determination of zinc content using atomic emission spectroscopy, including sample preparation of the analyzed samples by ashing in a muffle furnace to carbonaceous residue, characterized in that the carbon residue is obtained by heating the polymer sample in a muffle furnace to 450–550 °C at a speed of 1–7 °C/min and keeping it in the range of these temperatures for 10–30 minutes.
EFFECT: reduced duration of sample preparation and improved accuracy of zinc determination.
