FIELD: fire safety equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the fire-fighting equipment and can be used to protect pipe and cable junctions in pressure bulkheads of ships and industrial facilities with increased fire hazard. Disclosed is the flame retardant composition production method by the glycerin with tetraethoxysilane interaction at the glycerin:tetraethoxysilane molar ratio from 2 to 4 with the ethyl alcohol simultaneous distillation when using tetrabutoxy stannum as the catalyst, where the resulting silicon glycerate is further mixed with silica and potassium carbonate. Also disclosed is produced by the claimed method the flame retardant composition for pipe and cable bulkhead crossing. With thermal exposure, from produced by the claimed method silicon glycerate a silicon silicate with low thermal conductivity is formed.
EFFECT: technical result is that the disclosed method allows to produce the highly condensed silicon glycerate, used as the flame retardant, both individually and in the mixture with finely dispersed silicon dioxide.
