In the method, the device for packaging a medication contains a roll support part comprising a rotatable part of the shaft to which the core tube of the sheet material is attached for packaging a medicinal product; part that outputs information about the amount of rotation of the rotary part of the shaft; an information reading part for recording information on the storage medium and reading recorded information from the storage medium; an information generation part for generating information that can be recorded on a storage medium, as well as a part for estimating the amount of residual sheet material for estimating the current amount of residual sheet material. Information contains information about the amount of the rotation at the initial moment of time; one or many pieces of information about the amount of rotation at certain current points in time; and information on the amount of sheet material used from the initial point in time to the point in time when using the sheet material for packaging. Also disclosed are variants of the device for packaging medications.
