FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: use: to determine the composition of gas samples. Ionising device includes a first electrode comprising an electrically conductive member coated with a dielectric layer, a spine extending adjacent to and at least partially along the first electrode, a second electrode comprising conductive segments disposed adjacent the first electrode, each one of the electrically conductive segments contacting the spine at a respective contact location, the dielectric layer of the first electrode separating the electrically conductive member of the first electrode from the spine and the second electrode.
EFFECT: enabling the creation of plasma-generating points corresponding to the intersections of the first electrode and the second electrode.
