SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the area of decoding a predictive-coded image. Predictive image decoding device comprises: input means for receiving input of compressed image data and coded information, the compressed image data contains a residual signal and encoded information about the prediction mode; recovery means for extracting a residual signal of said target block from the compressed image data; prediction mode decoding means for recovering encoded prediction mode information for generating a prediction mode; predicted signal generation means for generating a predicted signal of said target block based on said prediction mode; image reconstruction means for adding the predicted signal to a reproducible residual signal to reconstruct the pixel signal of said target block; and storage means for storing the reconstructed pixel signal as a reproduced pixel signal, the prediction mode decoding means generates a list of possible prediction modes comprising elements of the prediction modes of a plurality of previously reproduced blocks adjacent to said target block, and decodes a flag that indicates whether the list of possible prediction modes contains an element corresponding to said prediction mode.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of decoding information about the prediction mode of the target block.
