FIELD: engines and pumps; nuclear technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of nuclear power plants and electric propulsion systems with electromagnetic plasma acceleration and can mainly be used in spacecraft propulsion systems. Nuclear power propulsion unit comprises a nuclear reactor, a turbine, a heat exchanger-heat exchanger, a heat exchanger-cooler and a compressor connected by a gas circuit, an electric generator mounted on the same shaft with the turbine and compressor, electric propulsion engine containing coaxially mounted at the end of a gentle cathode and nozzle-anode, a solenoid placed outside the nozzle-anode, a cooler-emitter connected by a liquid circuit with a heat exchanger-cooler and an electric generator, and a storage and supply system for the working fluid. Electric rocket motor shaft is connected to the turbine shaft via an insulating spacer, the electric generator is connected to the solenoids through the current leads, the storage system and the working fluid supply is connected through a vaporizer to the gas circuit at the compressor inlet, and the gas circuit at the entrance to the heat exchanger-cooler is connected through the manifold to the internal channel of the shaft of the electric propulsion engine.
EFFECT: ensuring the reduction of the mass and dimensions of the nuclear power plant.
