SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of heat treatment. To reduce cyclic fatigue stresses and prevent the occurrence of cracks in the area of the interdental cavity of the serrated edge of the saw, the method of treating a band saw blade includes forming plastic deformation zones of the base of the depression of each saw tooth, the local zone is heated with a node of fatigue stress concentration at the base of the depression of each saw tooth in a contactlessly pulsed induction manner up to the temperature of the yield strength of the saw material T with a zone length (0.25÷0.3)t, the width of the zone b > 1.5 s located symmetrically with respect to the stress concentration node, while the heating temperature of the local zone is determined by the expression °C, where s is the thickness of the saw, mm, n is the frequency of rotation of the drive pulley, c-1, tc – time of the saw cycle, c, α – coefficient of linear expansion of the material of the blade, 10-6/°C, k – the number of kinks for the period of saw operation, is assumed to be 105–106, t – saw tooth pitch, mm, z – number of teeth in the saw, pcs., π = 3.14.
EFFECT: reducing cyclic fatigue stresses and preventing the occurrence of cracks in the area of the interdental cavity of the serrated edge of the saw.
